SISU in Charlotte

SISU Mobile Fitness is a mobile gym brought to you. Our goal is to provide a fitness alternative for people who want to live an active lifestyle without depending on the traditional gym.  One motto that we go by at SISU is that "we do the common uncommonly well".  We bring tried and true training programs that deliver superior result.

SISU defined by Wikipedia

  1. "is a Finnish word generally meaning determination, bravery, and resilience. However, the word is widely considered to lack a proper translation into any other language. Sisu is about taking action against the odds and displaying courage and resoluteness in the face of adversity."
We named our company Sisu because we believe in getting out of our comfort zone and facing our fears head on whatever they are.  The perseverance and determination that is developed by pushing the body is something we feel everyone should experience.  Overall our goal is to pave the way for you to better yourself physically, emotionally, and mentally.

We have two Coaches right now at Sisu Mobile Fitness James Tatum and Steven Brown.

James started Powerlifting at the age of 14 building a great foundation of knowledge for strength and conditioning.  He spent his undergraduate days at UNCW while earning a BS in Exercise Science.  In June 2012 James moved to Charlotte NC to join Team MDUSA in hopes of going to the Olympics in 2016 in the sport of Weightlifting.  In the past two years James has gone from a relatively unknown name in the sport to becoming a two-time American Open Champion, National Silver Medalist, Pan Am and World Team Member.  James has coached professional golfers to business owners with odd hours and busy schedules. James has studied under some of the best coaches in the USA including Glenn Pendlay, Don McCauley, Charles Poliquin, and a less known but great coach Jared Olson.

Steven is an ex Army Ranger with 5.5 years of accumulated Special Operations Service, and 5 deployments to Afghanistan.  He is a certified Ranger Athlete Warrior instructor, and has found his new calling in Olympic Weightlifting.  He has a passion to none for honing his craft, and training others to reach their goals.  Steve just joined Team MDUSA this year after competing at his first national Olympic Weightlifting meet "The Arnold Classic" where he took 6th place in the 69kg (152lbs) weight class.
